There have been valid studies that if someone, who is having a heart attack, takes an aspirin immediately (it's best to chew it) that it will help that person survive that heart attack.  Besides chewing you can also just put it in your mouth under your tongue if for some reason you are unable to chew it.  Although it is best to break it up first, as you really want the aspirin to get absorb quickly into the blood stream.  Under the tongue, there is a strong vascular area that helps the aspirin go straight into the blood stream without having to go through the digestive tract.  Of course after chewing it up you would then swallow it.  The inside of the cheeks also have a lot of blood vessels. You can also buy aspirin powder in a small package to make it easier to take in this circumstance.
